JADA Foundational Science
Because oral health research knows no boundaries
JADA Foundational Science, the ADA's cross-disciplinary, open access journal, bridges basic and clinical sciences in oral-health research. Led by Editor-in-Chief Jack L. Ferracane, PhD, JADA Foundational Science publishes research reports, review articles, and short scientific communications in biology, chemistry, engineering, and technology that are foundational to new theories of disease and new approaches to diagnosis and treatment. JADA FS also reports on the technical breakthroughs underpinning the new clinical tools that advance oral and craniofacial health.
JADA Foundational Science, published jointly by ADA and Elsevier, is accepting submissions on foundational science as well as new and emerging scientific ideas, tools, and techniques as they are applied to research questions in oral and craniofacial health. Pertinent studies are invited in the areas of biology, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science and informatics, advanced imaging and processing, and other technologies.

JADA Foundational Science (JADA FS) is a cross-disciplinary, open access journal publishing research articles, reviews, and short communications on a broad range of topics in dental, oral, and craniofacial health. JADA FS provides a forum for researchers in basic and applied sciences to make their work visible to experts in clinical dentistry and medicine. The aim is to highlight foundational science as well as new and emerging scientific ideas, tools, and techniques as they are applied to research questions in oral and craniofacial health. Pertinent studies are invited in the areas of biology, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science and informatics, advanced imaging and processing, and other technologies. The goal of JADA FS is to recruit timely and innovative work of high scientific rigor that is applicable to the field of oral and craniofacial health, presented in a way that is engaging and instructive to both research scientists and clinicians. JADA FS uses a double-blind peer review process.
The American Dental Association (ADA) exists to power the profession of dentistry and to assist our members in advancing the overall oral health of their patients. Together with our more than 161,000 members, we have been driving dentistry forward for more than 160 years.
We are strong advocates for our members, promoting the art and science of dentistry by supporting dental professionals through services like Find-a-Dentist, credentialing tools, Third Party Payer Concierge, contract review, and much more. Our mission is to ensure all member dentists have what they need, when they need it, and even before it is needed to succeed.
We are also strong advocates for public health—fighting oral cancer and combating the opioids crisis—and we are teaming up with industry partners to help you stay healthy from the dental chair to daily care at home.
We will continue working toward our vision—working side by side with our member dentists—to achieve optimal health for all.
